How to use this course
Welcome (back) to Chen Taijiquan Foundations!
This course is designed to give beginners an introduction to some of the foundational practices in Chen Style Taijiquan. It can also help intermediate students to review the foundations in order to improve the quality of their movement (rather than learning new postures or forms), and help practitioners who have taken a break from taijiquan to come back to the practice.
COURSE CONTENTS
As such, the course will focus on practice and repetition of the follow contents, with key relevant principles explained and demonstrated:
- Wuji standing meditation 无极桩
- Chen Taiji Silk Reeling Exercises 缠丝功
- Section 1 of Chen Taiji Old Frame First Routine 老架一路
COURSE FORMAT
The core part is the Monday live zoom class (9-10am Pacific Time / 4pm UTC), covering the above materials. Please note that unlike my previous courses, these live classes will NOT be recorded.
In addition, every Wednesday morning a short video lesson (about 30 minutes) will be released on the course website and through email. These video lessons are curated recordings from previous classes. They will serve as both a guide and a reminder for your home practice during the week. Each week's video lesson is available on the course website on Wednesday by 3am PT, and you will also receive an email by 9am PT with links to the video lesson. The last video lesson will be released on Tuesday October 31 and available through Friday, Nov 3.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS
You are encouraged to use this platform to post your questions -- for example, under each week's video lessons. You may also email me directly at [email protected]. I will answer questions together once a week, either in a group email, or in Monday class.
I look forward to seeing you in class on Mondays!
